House of David

Postcard collector Wally Jung will share images and stories from Michigan’s infamous House of David. Presented by the Historical Society of Greater Lansing.

Online Privacy Without Tears

Wednesday, February 8, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Register
In this digital age, more and more of our private and sensitive information can be unknowingly put on the internet. Join us for a discussion about the internet, privacy, and how to keep yourself (and your information) safe and secure. This talk will include simple, and practical steps to make online interactions more secure, best practice tips, as well as information about further reading to find out more information.

Living Well with a Disability

Mondays, March 6-May 10, 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Living Well with a Disability is a ten-week peer-facilitated health promotion workshop for people with disabilities.  Participants in the program learn the life skills they need to set and achieve quality-of-life goals and the important role health plays in helping them reach their dreams. People who participate in the Living Well with a Disability workshop report:

Improved outlook

  • Positive changes in daily activities
  • Achieving a goal such as getting a job, going back to school, or leading a more active social life
  • Reduced limitation due to secondary health conditions
  • Reduced health care costs
  • Increased awareness of disability rights/advocacy

Aviation and WWI

Tuesday, April 18, 6-7:30 p.m.
World War I was the first major war to make heavy use of aerial combat. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entering WWI with a discussion about developments in aviation leading up to and during WWI and the state of the U.S. as we entered the war led by Kevin Kenz, a 25-year volunteer at Kalamazoo’s AirZoo. Presented with the Delta Township Historical Society.

Rock, Rebellion and Brownies: Memories of the 60’s

Tuesday, May 16, 6-7:30 p.m.
Take a trip down memory lane with Bill Castanier (a local writer and President of the Greater Lansing Historical Society) and Bob Pearson (a DJ for WILS in the 1960’s and WITL in the early 1970’s).  Together they will reminisce about the news, books, movies, social happenings and music of the 1960’s. Presented with the Delta Township Historical Society.

Ancestry Club
