Since the ebook and ebook reader boom began this past holiday season the Delta Township District Library has been doing its best to keep up with the increased demand for ebooks. We have partnered with several other area libraries to provided downloadable books and audiobooks through the library ebook vendor OverDrive.

This service works with nearly all popular ebook readers on the market, which includes the Barnes & Noble Nook, Sony eReader, Sharper Image Literati and more. One notable exception has been the Amazon Kindle. this is because the popular ePub format for ebooks that OverDrive sells is not compatible with the Kindle.

However, late last month Amazon and OverDrive announced that they will be making library ebooks available to Kindle users. Details are still a bit vague, but we are looking forward to hearing more about how this service will work.

Read Amazon’s press release here.
