Computer Classes
The topics currently offered include:
- Computer Use Basics – This class is for beginning computer users. It will include an introduction to the parts of a computer, monitor, mouse, keyboard and basic use including a tutorial on using a mouse and double-clicking. Attendees will learn to boot up their computer, open and close programs and save and open files.
- Email Basics – This class is for anyone who wants to learn more about the basics of email. The class will teach you how to setup an email account, send messages, organize your inbox, delete messages, and send attachments.
- Introduction to the Internet- Learn more about how the Internet works and learn how to effectively find information online. This class will teach you the basics of the Internet, websites, search engines and more.
- Introduction to Catalog and MeLCat - This class will demonstrate how to search for items in iBistro and MelCat, how to locate those materials within the library and practice accessing and altering our account online. Attendees must already know how to use a mouse.
- Introduction to Microsoft Word -This class is a first-time introduction to using Microsoft Word. Attendees must already know how to use a mouse and some computer basics. We will cover creating documents, formatting text, copy/paste and saving your file.
- Microsoft Word II – This is an intermediate level class for people who are already comfortable with the basics of Microsoft Word. This class will teach you how to format your document by set format styles, changing the margins, setting tabs, adjusting line spacing, insert page breaks and more. Word II Practice
- Introduction to Microsoft Excel – This class is a first-time introduction to using Microsoft Excel. Attendees must already know how to use a mouse and some computer basics. Excel is a software program used to create spreadsheets and manage data.
- Microsoft Excel II – This class reviews some of the basic functions of excel and covers how to format cells, sort and filter data, create formulas, use multiple worksheets, apply number formats, and create charts and graphs. Excel II Practice
- Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint – a first-time introduction to using Microsoft’s presentation software. Attendees must already know how to use a mouse and some computer basics. This class will teach users how to create a slideshow-style presentation, insert text and photos and animate slides.
- Microsoft PowerPoint II – Continue to learn how to create a clean and professional looking presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint. This class will cover how to apply design themes, slide transitions, custom animations and more. PPT2 Practice
- Fun with Digital Photos – Digital cameras have made it easier than every to take pictures, but what do you do with the pictures once they are saved on your computer? Learn how to create postcards, calendars and other gifts, share your photos, print, edit and more.
- Social Media For Businesses - Learn how social networking tools can help your business. Experienced realtor and consultant, Mike Bowler, will discuss the do’s and don’ts of social media and show you how social networking tools like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter can help your business.
- Learn to Sell on Etsy.com – Do you love to create, and want to sell your works to a worldwide audience? In search of a place to buy crafting and art supplies? Looking for art or craft ideas you can develop into your own? This workshop will show you how to get started buying and selling on Etsy, one of the web’s best sites for exquisite handmade and vintage items! Learn how to log on and set up your account, choose a name for your online business, register and get started! Find out about free resources to market your business, what can and can’t be sold, and which fees apply. Learn who’s finding success, and get ready to jump in!
- Learn to Buy and Sell on Ebay – Ebay is the world’s largest online marketplace, where practically anyone can buy and sell practically anything. Learn how to log on and set up your account, choose a name for your online business, register and get started! Find out about free resources to market your business, what can and can’t be sold, and which fees apply. Learn who’s finding success, and get ready to jump in!.
- Downloadable Audiobooks – Downloadable audiobooks are coming to the library this spring! Learn how to download books to your computer and transfer them to your ipods or MP3 players. .
