Teachers & Homeschoolers

DTDL strives to serve the educators and students in our community, including local schools, child care centers, teachers, and homeschooling families.  Services we offer include:

Materials on various topics in multiple formats for all ages.  We encourage educators to let us know if we can enhance our collection in any particular areas, especially if you have an assignment coming up for which students will be coming to the library.

Field trips to the library and/or visits from staff to your location.  We would be happy to have your students come to the library for stories, activities,  library orientation, a tour, book talks, tutorials, or whatever suits your goals.  We can also schedule staff to visit your classroom or child care center.  (All visits are free of charge.)  Please contact Becky LeBoeuf, Head of Youth Services at 517-321-4014 x3 or bleboeuf@dtdl.org.

Programs and events for all ages, including special programs just for homeschoolers.  Our events calendar is always up to date with our latest programs, or stop by or call the Youth Desk (517-321-4014 x3) for more information or to suggest programs you’d like to see.

Michigan eLibrary resources at your fingertips.  MeL provides a wealth of online resources and databases for students and educators.  MeLCat is the statewide interlibrary loan system that allows you to access materials from hundreds of libraries across the state.
